Museo de Arte de Queretero.

From 06 Queterero
I couldn't take pictures of the artwork, sadly. Fine Mexican Mannerist paintings. Fine Baroque work, too. Including a 17th century painting of Saint Anthothy of Padua, my hometown's namesake. (Contemporary with the city's founding? I wish my history was a little more complete.)

A show on bullfighting. (Including some original artwork used in posters!) And a related show on bulls (?). Hit or miss, to say the least. Then I saw a room full of prints that I liked. Salvador Dalí. I got tricked into liking Dalí. Oh well.

Queretero.

From 06 Queterero
Cobblestones. Colonial architecture. Great beauty. I'm getting used to it.

At a fancy cafe on one of the plazas of Queretero. Eating greasy pasta. Listening to Bread. (Baby, I want you to want me. That's Bread, right?)

Anyway, Queretero is overcast and cool. I spent the day looking for clothes that fit me. Now I know where they sent the stuff that didn't make the cut at Solo Serve. Eek.

For some reason, the prices of clothing are out of whack compared to the cost of everything else in Mexico. Also, the clothes are... wack. (That's the closest word I can find.) I can't tell you how many cheap jean I saw with brand names like "Macho" or "Hombre" with golden threading and patches on the back pocket. Or little ripped and distressed affectations. Jackets with more zippers than my huge dorky backpack- on the forearms and everywhere else and "1983" and fake paint splatters silkscreened on it for no reason. Anyway, I did find some jeans that actually fit and look OK. And also $50 worth of clothes that I will leave at the border. ("Timberland?" No, "Timberwolf!")

Friendy Internet café. Too many Americans, though. It's cool. I'm used to them. Fine coffee.

The Triplets Of Belleville is playing in the background. A movie I saw with a good friend on Sunset in LA. I forgot the name of the theater. Where the Virgin Megacenter is at. Anyway...

Concert at the Plaza.

From 05 San Miguel
After dinner (and a slice of surprisingly delicious pie made of corn) I happened upon this band. They were playing "Rock Around the Clock" using marimba and other traditional instruments.

I'm Representing San Antonio.

The bartender added "San Antonio, Texas" to the sign after I took this picture.

He promised that the photo that they took of me with the empties (the night before) would be attached later.
